On Saturday Febuary 5 Co 7 (Zion Crossroads) and Co 24 (Gordonsville) was alerted for a MVA with entrappement. Engine 7-1 with a crew of 5 arrived reporting a single vehicle overturned on its roof top. One patient had self extricated himself prior to arrival, while the driver was still in the vehicle. After stabilizing the vehicle Engine 7-1 crew began the process of removing the driver. Attack 24 with a crew of 5 along with Engine 7 arrived and was assigned to secure the vehicle of any possible hazards and to assist with loading the patients into Medic 1. Both patients were transported to UVA hospital with serious injuries. Chief 7 had Loving road command. Units on scene: Engine 7-1, Engine 7, Attack 24, Medic 1, Chief 7, Louisa Co Sheriffs Office and Virginia State Police.| Next > |

The Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department is located near the intersection of Route 15 and Route 250 and Route 15 and Interstate 64. This area is known as Zion Crossroads and is near the counties of Fluvanna, Orange, Albemarle and is close to Goochland county. Our station is responsible for about 13 miles of Interstate 64 and serves a growing population base.
In 2003, the department had outgrown the three bay building and added two more bays and converted one of the existing bays for the day room/kitchen, bunk room and offices. In 2004, the department purchased a new ambulance and officially became a transport agency.
