			<description>

The Screamin&amp;rsquo; 5K was created by group of residents who live in Spring Creek as a family friendly and Halloween costume friendly race. Its purpose is to benefit the Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department. Through a combination of race proceeds and donations from individuals and businesses, the Screamin&amp;rsquo; 5K hopes to donate as much money as possible to the Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department who works diligently on a daily basis to service the rapidly growing community around them.The inaugural Screamin&amp;rsquo; 5K race will be held this year on Saturday, October 25th, and take place throughout the Spring Creek Community (http://www.springcreekgolfclub.com/) in Gordonsville, Virginia.

Please consider becoming a participant by registering or becoming a sponsor (media/5Kregistration.pdf) . The ZCVFD family is grateful for this wonderful community event and we hope to see you at the race!

			<title>It's Here: Tanker 7!</title>
			<link>http://www.zcvfd.org/content/view/259/45/</link>
			<description>

Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department is the proud recipient of a new fire truck. Tanker 7 is a 2008 Pierce Kenworth T-370 Tanker will carry 3,000 gallons of water and will be powered by a 360 horsepower Cummins engine and a 500 gallon per minute Darley
pump. It will also be equipped with a 10&amp;rdquo; electronic dump valve for
quick release of water at fire scenes. The new Tanker 7 will also have
two 200&amp;rsquo; inch-and-three-quarter speed lays and an
inch-and-three-quarter front mounted trash line.

 This is a really great looking truck, Bywaters said. It will also add an additional layer of protection to the residents of our growing community. This is the second new apparatus (Engine 7-1 (index.php?option=com_content task=view id=256 Itemid=81) ) to be acquired by the department in the last 2 months and should be in service by August 12th.

Tanker 7 is a ZCVFD department purchase through Singer Associates Fire Equipment (http://www.singerassociates.com/) in Manassas, VA.

			<title>Company 24 Does Great Job</title>
			<link>http://www.zcvfd.org/content/view/260/34/</link>
			<description>

Let me preface this article; ZCVFD was not involved in this incident, but I did happen to be in the area at the time of the call. The main reason I including the call on our website is to give a little praise to the guys over at Company 24 in Orange County. This amazing group of dedicated volunteers never ceases to amaze me how they leave the station on a call with every engine packed with firefighters. Not only do they have an amazing level of participation by their members, they do a great job on scene. This call is one of those examples. Extrication of the driver was completed by the time the first EMS unit arrived on scene, allowing the EMS personnel easy access to the critical patient. Great job, guys!

On Thursday, July 31, 2008, a single vehicle accident on South Spotswood Trail in Louisa County left the driver in critical condition. At around 5 pm, a car traveling east on Route 33, near Gordonsville, allegedly lost control and struck a tree, trapping the unidentified female driver inside. Firefighters from Gordonsville Fire Company (http://www.gordonsvillefirecompany.com/index.htm) quickly responded to the scene and began to extricate the female. Louisa County Emergency Services transported the victim to UVA Medical Center. The accident is under investigation by Virginia State Police. Traffic was closed on Route 33 for nearly an hour while the accident scene was cleared.
