On a cold Saturday morning at approx. 1100 hrs Co 7 was alerted for a dwelling fire on Deerfield Rd in Fluvanna County as part of the 1st alarm box assignment. Fluvanna Engine 31 arrived with a well involved dwelling. Chief 7 arrived second followed by Tanker 7 which initiated a water supply after Fluvanna Engine 10 laid approx. 1000ft of 4 inch supply line. Engine 7 arrived in participated in water shuttle along with Fluvanna tankers. Chief 7 was assigned to operations sector. It appears that the fire may have started around a electrical box. The homeowner was working in an adjacent garage when the fire was discovered. Although the air temperature was in the 20's at the time. No injuries were incurred during the incident. Units on scene: Fluvanna E-31, Fluvanna E-10, Fluvanna E-51, Tanker 10, Tanker 31, Tanker 54, Louisa Tanker 7 and Louisa E-7, Chief 7 and Fluvanna Chief 1 ( Command)

The Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department is located near the intersection of Route 15 and Route 250 and Route 15 and Interstate 64. This area is known as Zion Crossroads and is near the counties of Fluvanna, Orange, Albemarle and is close to Goochland county. Our station is responsible for about 13 miles of Interstate 64 and serves a growing population base.
In 2003, the department had outgrown the three bay building and added two more bays and converted one of the existing bays for the day room/kitchen, bunk room and offices. In 2004, the department purchased a new ambulance and officially became a transport agency.
