On Monday, June 19 at around 10pm, two tractor trailers collided in the
parking lot of Schneider National. No injuries were reported, but one of the
trucks was carrying 3,000 gallons of jet fuel. Zion Crossroads Fire Department
along with Gordonsville Fire Department responded, fearing the worst.
Wagon 7 quickly arrived on scene and discovered that one of the trucks had accidentally
backed into the other. The tanker’s rear valve appeared to be damaged, but none
of the fuel had leaked yet.
With Engine 7 and Squad 24’s help, the firefighters separated the two
trucks, with hoses and hazmat materials ready in case any spill began.
The two trucks were separated, and only a small amount of damage was done to
the tanker’s rear bumper, but the tank was intact.
Crews cleared from the scene in 25 minutes.
