Attention
Some of the pictures and stories shown on the following pages may be disturbing. In many of these cases, the stories are tragic. People have been seriously injured and in some instances, killed. Those involved frequently have suffered very significant, sometimes permanent injuries. The patients, their families, and their friends have all suffered as a result of these events.
We often receive calls from patients or their families asking us about what happened during an incident. The following photos and stories are provided, similar to a newspaper account, for educational and informational purposes. It is our hope that through education, tragic incidents such as these can be prevented.
Every ZCVFD member that responded to these calls sends their thoughts and condolences to those touched by these incidents.

At around 5:30 am, the Zion Crossroads Fire Department was called to the 132 mile marker on eastbound of I-64 for a reported FedEx on fire.
Upon arrival, crews found a double tractor-trailer with fire coming
from the wheels of the rear trailer. The fire had spread to the freight
compartment and a large portion of the cargo was ablaze.
It took crews from ZCFVD, Louisa Fire Department (Company 1), Albemarle
East Rivanna Fire Department (Station 2) and Palmyra Fire Department
(Company 1) to contain the fire. All of the cargo had extensive fire
and water damage and had to be off-loaded from the truck.
Units were on scene for more than 5 hours.

A boy and two women were killed and 11 people were injured in
a four-vehicle accident Saturday, October 1, 2005 in Louisa County, according to
Virginia State Police.
The accident occurred around 9 p.m. on U.S. 15 just south of
Gordonsville, near the intersection with U.S. 33. Some victims were
taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center via several helicopters.
