Poker Run 2007

The Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department held the 1st Annual Poker Run on Saturday, June 9th, 2007. Over 30 bikers showed up for a great ride through central Virginia. Area motorcycle vendors had displays offering goods and services and a wonderful fish fry welcomed the riders back from the open road.

"I've been to many of these Poker Runs over the years and this has been, by far, the most organized event I've ever been to," said Mike Ford, one of the riders.

A poker run is an organized motorcycle event where riders travel over a prescribed course and at designated stopping points, select a card. At the end of the run, the person with the best poker hand wins a prize.

The Auxiliary is already hard at work for next year's event, making it even more successful than this years.

A suprising number of people came to the station on Saturday, April 21st wondering if they owned a priceless collectable or if it was common junk.

For only $5, per item, people stood in line to have their family heirlooms, treasures and rare antiques appraised by a professional antique appraiser. The event raised over $500 and was a wonderful success. We look forward to possibly hosting the event again next year.
