The Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department held the 1st Annual Poker Run on Saturday, June 9th, 2007. Over 30 bikers showed up for a great ride through central Virginia. Area motorcycle vendors had displays offering goods and services and a wonderful fish fry welcomed the riders back from the open road.
"I've been to many of these Poker Runs over the years and this has been, by far, the most organized event I've ever been to," said Mike Ford, one of the riders.
A poker run is an organized motorcycle event where riders travel over a prescribed
course and at designated stopping points, select a card. At the end of
the run, the person with the best poker hand wins a prize.
The Auxiliary is already hard at work for next year's event, making it even more successful than this years.
