Friday, 18 April 2008 |
On Saturday, April 19, 2008, The Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department, along with Mineral Rescue Squad was dispatched near the intersection of James Madison Highway (Route 15) and East Jack Jouett Road for a vehicle accident.
Wagon 7 arrived to find a single vehicle accident that had rolled down an embankment and was resting on its roof. Fire Rescue 7-1 arrived soon after and began treating two occupants that had self-extricated themselves from the car. Mineral Rescue also arrived on scene shortly after and assisted in packaging the two patients for transport to the hospital.
While on this call, another motor vehicle accident on Interstate 64 with entrapment was dispatched in ZCVFD’s first due area. Mineral transported the two patients from this accident to UVA with non-life threatening injuries, while Fire Rescue 7-1 responded to the accident on the Interstate.
It is unclear what caused the accident, but both passengers were lucky to have only minor injuries. Fire units cleared the scene about an hour later.
