VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Members of Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department trecked to Virginia Beach on March 13th to help honor Marines recently home from Iraq.
The department participated in Operation BBQ, a nationwide effort by competition BBQ teams to honor the soldiers and their families with a BBQ dinner.The event was spearheaded by fellow firefighter Bill Small who operates Bill's Grill Catering Service. Small and his fellow BBQ competitors prepared pulled pork, BBQ chicken, chilli, and all the fixings.
ZCVFD members provided beverages and dessert which included several items baked by the members.
"It felt great to help the troops," said ZCVFD Women's Auxilliary member Leslie Bielanski. "They give so much to us it's nice to be able to give back to them."
